It is a very long time and it's had some impacts on Goldie. She's more than a little neurotic--won't walk on a leash, only goes out certain gates, runs a pattern around her pen, and no way, no how is she ever getting caught inside a building again. She hates coming inside; acts like I'm going to torture her if she comes in the door! Some of the other dogs had similar issues. Raven was in the shelter for a year. She paced in a square exactly the size of her kennel for months. She still does when she is stressed or nervous. Founder wouldn't come inside at all for over a year. Now he sleeps in the porch, but he keeps a clear path between him and the door at all times. He doesn't want to get trapped inside.Originally Posted by jesse_3
