    I see the problem. My parents (and now many years later my husband) got used to me coming home with strays on bits of string...If you think you know the owner can you approach them?

    Yes, I'll try. Thanks for the advice. I am also spreading the word to residents nearby.

    All you can do is make others aware - do not put yourself in any danger with irate owners etc..... I hope it works out well for you
