I have no idea, I know nothing of the breed. There are a LOT of breeds out there that aren't used for anything anymore.

I'm not really "against" breeding purebreds that aren't bred to work so long as the breeder does health tests. It just kind of saddens me that people are breeding for companionship when there are so many wonderful companions in the shelters.

However if you are going to buy from a breeder, I do think it should be a purebred. We have so many breeds to choose from already, and if a person wants a "Puggle" or a "Labradoodle" then I really think they should just go to the shelter.

there are MANY PureCrosses at shelters. Just think of it this way, The original owners pay $800, they get tired of caring for it, you go to the shelter and adopt it for $50. WHY breed dogs if you are just breeding for companionship when on average 10 adoptable dogs die in each shelter every night due to overpopulation?? I agree with .sarah

Wow, everyone here seems convinced that mixing breeds can't possibly better anything at all, and all such breeders are in it for money.
I could say plenty about purebred breeders as well...
But since it isn't possible that new breeds can be developed, and it isn't possible that these dogs have any purpose at all, then I suppose there is nothing more to discuss.

There are enough breeds already that if someone wanted a good show dog they could find a registered breed that works for them.

So you want a puppy..... great lots of them in the pound, shelter, local rescue etc right?
Ah ok, you don't just want ANY puppy you want a labradoodle, or a peekapoo, or a porkie or or or any of the other designer breeds.

So lets find a BREEDER for these RARE critters, I know Mrs J down the road, her dog just gave birth to a litter of labradoddles in a pen in the yard, in the makeshift cardboard box, and these cuties must be at least 4 weeks old by now, so with a bit of luck she will let you take one home today

Well we get to Mrs J and she tells us she only has one puppy left because they are selling like hot cakes, as these dogs are very rare first generation pups, now as she is only has the one left and it's runty, she is willing to part with it for $2000, instead of the usual $2500, but it has to be today, and she is only willing to do it because your such a nice person. So the deal is done, you pay your $ and home you go with your pup, when you get home you notice the pup is quiet, then it starts to throw up, then it won't eat, hmmm maybe time to go see the vet huh.

$500 later the vet tells you your Rare 1st generation labradoodle just is'nt going to make it and the best thing you can do is to end the suffering fast through tears of anguish about your poor pup you agree, and thus a life ends.

Next time you want a dog go to the pound they have cross bred mutts too, and they will be in better shape than MRS J's RARE 1st Generation MUTTS, you may even be saving a life instead of compounding the deaths of hundreds.

i HATE the idea of designer dogs! i think if you want a dog that doesn't shed get a maltese, yorkie, schnauzer, etc. if you want a dog that has a cute name get a puli, chihuahua, pom, etc. it's rediculous to breed two breeds together and say you have a purebred dog. there are sooo many dogs being put to sleep in shelters! why on earth do you want to make more?!?!

what some people pay for designer dogs is stypid! when i use to work at a petstore we had "non-shedding" labradoodles that shed like crazy and they all sold within a week for $2000! while a PUREBRED poodle was sold weeks after we got it for only $400. i hate the idea of petstores too, but that's a totally different topic and i won't switch this one over.

I agree with mostly everyone. the idea of paying and breeding for thease mutts is just ridiculas!!!

My opinion is Designer Mutts are just adding more dogs to the world. There are many mutts already dying in shelters that are just as cute (in my opinion TONS cuter) than the Designer Mutts. Help the dogs. Just get one from the shelter. Designer Mutts are also alot of times terribly inbred. Many have health problems or deformed puppies. Reular mutts are great.
