To me, Valentine's day is just any other day..

It was created for Saint Valentine, a catholic saint but no one celebrates it that way.. to bad I would like it a lot more if they did.

I don't care at all about Valentines day. My family has never done anything special on it, it's just another day to us.

It's a toss up. Saturday I would have said I hated it, due to my boyfriend and I spliting Saturday night. Today, we are close to getting back together so I sort of like it. It's a nice holiday, but if you don't have anyone it's mighty lonely.

I used to hate it because at school they made a big deal and you felt like the only one without a card

This year for me and my boyfriend its our first and he wants to take me out for a meal, He is really romantic and told me the day isn't passing without him taking me out for dinner lol We buy each other gift but he insists its a girls day and I should be buying him anything, I think the shops agree it seems impossible to buy a man a valentines gift without it being pink and girlish

well i guess it depends whether i'm single or not at the time. because in high school valentines day basically sucks if youre not with someone so up until now, i've never had a boyfriend on valentines day and i was just kinda like ehhh i dont really care, but that i do have one i kind of like it. bu ti do think it's been way too commercialized.

It gives me a reason to go out for a NICE dinner with Rob.. however, he hates ALL holidays & refuses to do anything

Makes me quite sad, as I see holidays as something to look forward to, as my childhood SUCKED & only had a GREAT day holidays (I love to give!)

I am ambivalent about it. I do kinda like the idea, but it's become an excuse for people to spend lots of money on each other and to argue about it later.

Maybe I'm the only person in the world who does this...but I randomly schedule into my phone a few days a month to do something romantic for DBF. It reminds me never to take him for granted, and to show him that I love him more than once a year.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

It's never been a big thing for me so I guess I'd say I'm indifferent. The only reason I really pay attention is as a warning not to call my mom for a week before or after it....she's a floral manager.

*sigh* Everyday is Valentine's Day for me and John. We don't have the extra money for gifts, but he's my soulmate.

I'm actually indifferent to it. It can be a beautiful day if celebrated correctly and for the right reasons and by the right people. I think it's too commercialized, but, I think most holidays are. I avoid shopping for the typical Valentine's Day gifts, but, I do think that the day can be a beautiful one.

I like Valentines Day, but I also like most holidays. I think I just enjoy celebrating. This year I bought a box of those Valentine cards that kids buy for their school mates and I wrote a little note to each one of my coworkers on it and attatched a peice of candy to everyone. I'm sure the boys will think it's silly, but I didn't want to exclude anyone.

I think it also gives me a good reason to indulge. I'm making Alexa a dinner that if I were to make on any other night she would complain about how fattening it was! It gives me a reason to get a bottle of wine and not feel like a lush for drinking on a Tuesday. I can get the ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins without feeling like a pig. I was also able to get her a gift that if I bought her for no reason she would get mad at me for spending money on her when she knows I don't have a lot to spend.

However we have a plan that seems to work for us, our anniversary is two weeks later so we take turns on who gets to be in charge of the day. This year I got Valentines day and she gets to take care of the anniversary plans. So for Valentines I don't expect anything from her other than for her to show up for the dinner I've made.

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

Yup! Thats what I was gonna say St. Valentine is the patron on Lovers. ♥ Just do a google search on it...

So yeah, it DOES have a religious meaning...
