I've never heard a vet tell someone to feed their cats nothing but canned food. My vet told me a little is fine because it gives them moisture. But canned food will build tartar up on their teeth. I'm glad Uabassoon found a link for you!

My girls will not eat canned food. I have tried different types and they just try to bury it as they do 'human' food. They eat nothing but Iams or Purina
Indoor formula..My three children also have a variety of cats, all indoor, and they never get canned food. It works for us. If a vet told me to feed canned I would shop around for another vet...
