Here's some of the ones I like. This is Roxy so much, but way too much for a collar.

I'm really considering these. She would probably get the pink one.

    AND This
Which would be the the black one with white dots

and I love how these look, and I think they would look very good on Rox

I wouldn't go for the black one with white dots.

It would NOT be good for an outside dog. It is very flimsy leather. I had one for Nala, who is a 99.9% inside dog, (she refuses to even go outside sometimes!) and it got horribly worn out. Just warning you because you will be buying another one very soon if you go with that.

The only problem with that is it has a easy release thing...I'm afraid Roxy would tear it loose and run off...

You can get some realy good quality nylon working dog (Sheep/ Cattle dog) collars pretty cheaply at most feed/ produce stores, they come in nice bright colors aswell.

Are they strong enough to stand a 55ish pound dog?

Yep they are used for working dogs, dogs that are chained up at the sale yards, on the backs of utes, to fences when not working etc.

I am currently looking for a link for you to check out . Will post it when i find it.

It is double thickness nylon, the buckles are realy strong.

If strength is a concern, be sure to read the tag on the collar. Some are only rated for inside use. Since mine live outdoors 24/7, I use the nylon collars with flat metal closures. These metal closures are also the ones recommended for dogs that are chained. You should be able to get one at Petsmart for $20 or less.

Here's one similar to the one Rhi posted.. (Here's looks like it'd be stronger for an outside dog, though.)

They're the Spectra collars made by Coastal - you can see them on this site- but I bought mine at pet supplies plus, our local pet store.
