Absolutely not. First, there is no easy button in real life. Second, if we pushed the button on somebody like Bill Clinton (for a recent famous figure whom many people had issues with) we'd miss out on a lot of good things too. Not only that, but don't you want to keep tabs on what people you hate have to say?
The ignore features remind me of hurricane Katrina. My roommate didn't like seeing about it so she changed the channel and acted like it wasn't there. What do people matter if they are out of sight? That's the ignore button.
Now for the IM's I get from people I don't know, I minimize them. They don't pop up in front of my webpages but I can still have access to them.
