My oldest step-son's birthday is Dec 24, and my sister has an in-law whose birthday is Dec 25. In both cases, our families really make an effort to seperate the birthday from the holiday. Birthday parties are the main focus and celebrated on the actual date, and holiday celebrations are on some other day.
