This event, as horrible as it was, proved once again what a wonderful community we have here. It was so hard to see those two babies so badly injured, but so great to see them on the mend. I bet even the mailman missed being barked at while they were away!

So glad you and Jackie were able to keep us up-to-date with everything, so we knew which direction to slant our prayers toward at any given moment!

**********

I wonder what God thought
When suddenly, from many languages,
Many countries, many hearts and
Many religions,
God was bombarded with prayers
for two little dogs.

Just an armful apiece, but when
They were attacked, how brave was Perry
So strong and true, that all our hearts
Swelled with prayer

"Oh, God, please heal him,
for he tried so hard
and kept Miss Daisy as safe as he could.
and God, while we're asking,
please heal her, too,
Make her better and able
To jump up to the big bed,
even thought it drives Carrie nuts ...

Please, God?"

And over again, maybe some of the angels
Seeing these prayers comne flooding in,
Wondered - "Who are these dogs?
Why are so many prayers coming in?"
And they looked,
and asked the dog-angels to explain.

And oh, so proudly, those dog-angels told
And will repeat, again and again,
Of dainty Daisy and stalwart Perry,
Of struggle, and pain, and valor
Of survival

And the sadder tail of the negelected one
Who so angrily lashed out,
The dog-angels will pray their own barked prayers
For that dog, too,
That he might be given love, and understanding
And protection from the world
And protection for the world

But the dog-angels know,
And the other angels learn

Of Daisy and Perry

And how love takes many
Many
Many
forms.

P.S. I think my mama lives
wherever the dog-angels are
and my grandma sneaks them biscuits
and my great-aunts and uncles,
the generation before, feed,
and hold, and skritch
all the right spots
in as many dog-angels
as they can fond.
all the dog-angels they can.
