I'm going to interpret memorable as dogs that aren't still with you. That'll make it easier to choose one, since Oz, Murph and Gull don't qualify as they're still with me.

So most memorable, my lil' soulmate dog Maddie. She's been gone for over 2 years now and I still think about her everyday and talk about her whenever the opportunity arises. You'd think memories would fade with time, but I don't think they do for a dog that special.

My Grandfather just recently turned 91 and his mind isn't what it use to be. He led a very exciting life. He actually knew Bonnie and Clyde. He's had a wonderful family, filled with love. He was as close to my Dad, as any son and father could be. My Dad died in his 40s and it was extremely hard on my Grandfather. He lost his best friend, not just a son. He's had numerous dogs throughout his life that's he's loved and been loved by. So where am I going with this?

He's got so many wonderful experiences that he could latch onto and remember in his twlight years, as his mind fades. You would think he would be telling stories about my Dad. But whenever you talk to him, he has a handful of stories about his beloved Toy Fox Terrier, Tiger, that he endlessly retells. When you get together with Granddad, it's not "if", it's "when", he'll begin talking about Tiger. I've heard the stories so many times, I could recite them with him.

It just amazes me though, that one special lil' dog, could have such a profound impact on your life. That as you approach the end of your life, your one enduring memory is of your relationship with your dog. What a special gift God gave to mankind when he gave us Dogs. In my mind, his greatest creation.

Anyway, I ponder that everytime I see Granddad and I've a feeling if I was to reach such an old age, I'd be talking about Maddie as he does of Tiger.
