We have just adopted an 8 week old American Bulldog and we are also using the crate at night and when we are not home. We've had her for almost a week now and she's almost clean already believe it or not and the nights are getting better and better.Originally Posted by BC_MoM
The problem is during the day... We have to leave her in her crate for about 6 hours 3 days a week and it seems to be too much for her tiny bladder.
When I got home yesterday she had been in there for almost 5 hours and she was barking and whining very loudly... She couldnt hold herself so she urinated in her crate, so when I got home I took her outside right away.
Today, she peed in her crate again after only beeing in there for 2h30 .. and she was barking again when we walked in.
I have done almost everything.. T-Shirt, Clock, Toy, Treats, cover the crate with blankets, radio and we put her in her cage 20 mins before we leave to she can fall asleep and if she whines we tell her "NO" or "SHHH" and it works, but I guess she wakes up and has to go pee but no one is there to let her out so she whines and barks...
We live in an appartement so we can't have her barking like that... I'm thinking of bringing her to my parents (in a house) since it's really not that far from where I live but i'm afraid it really wont help to put her in a new environment like that..
Any tips?
Thanks!
