My Finnigan went through this about eleven years ago, I got him to the vet's just in time, he spent eleven days there with me having to go and feed him every day because he wouldn't eat for them, or drink. Up to the eighth day I thought I'd lose him, he was just hanging in there and then there was the improvement, a week after he came home and put on some weight again no one could have guessed that he'd been so sick.
It's really amazing what they can go through and survive.

Thanks for the info. Spike peed on his own this morning, although it wasn't alot, and ate a good breakfast. He's still walking very gingerly and pretty much stays in his bed. Kevin will administer his antibiotic this morning so hopefully that goes well. 
We're hoping each day shows improvement.
