Laurie, thank you for making the call and letting all of us know how Phred is doing. If that guy doesn't feel well loved, it sure isn't because we aren't trying!!

In my family, I am the founder of WORRIES R US............and my older niece immediately signed on as assistant.

Phred has been at the top of our list.

Just rolled out of bed and this is the first thing I checked. Laurie, that's such good news hear that he's going to be moved or "upgraded" as I like to call it. The fact that he's off the ventilator surely is a good sign. Thanks for the update and yes, I'm sure the whole hospital knows about Pet Talk now.

Wonderful news to start my day off! Thanks so much, Laurie.

I wonder if Phred told the nurses about PT and maybe some of them have checked it out for themselves and have seen this extremely long thread we have going for him. If you're out there, "Hi Nurses!"

Thanks for the good news, Laurie! I'm relieved to hear Phred is out of the IC unit and breathing on his own.

Keep improving, Phred, we're all rooting for you!! Sending more positive thoughts and hugs for a speedy recovery.

That's what I thought too. If they do, they could post updates.

I got a call from Phred around noon - and just got off the phone with him.
He wants everyone to know he is alive and kicking just not very hard.
First off he says he never was on a ventilator he was on a non- rebreather mask so that makes it a bit less scary. During the procedure to removed the blood clot from the kidney he went into heart failure where his lungs filled up with fluid and according to him he started coughing his fool head off. (his words not mine!!) The doc was irritated but the procedure went off ok - he was in the recovery room still coughing with no doc around to write an order for lasix.
He appreciates all the cards and calls he is sorry he hasn't been able to talk to anyone yet.
He is scheduled for the cath on Monday.
Honestly he sounds 110% better then he did a week and half ago before he went into the hospital.
Keep the prayers and thoughts and calls and cards coming!
