I don't think there is a difference between human and dog. We got ours at the dollar tree and its still working well. We used it for Pepper and ourselves. Can you return the one you got and tell them it isn't cutting?

Yes I can return. I think thats why it's dull, I jinxed myself. LOL When I purchased it I asked (because I know that four paws is not that good of a name but it was all I could find) that if I was unsatisfied with it could I return it? They said as long as I have the packaging & cleaned it up. Which I kept the package & they aren't even dirty.

I thought of you today, and checked my thinning shears, they are Anvil, made by Top Performance, which is the PetEdge brand. They work great for me, had them for over a year now, and still work great!

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to my friends (hairdresser) tonight to get myself a trim, if she doesn't have a good pair that I can purchase or knows of a retailer that is close by (I use my credit card for emergancies only... or at least try) then I'll be sure to get a pair of those.
