Yeah I am doing it both ways, cutting as close to the joint of the sissors as I can (but they aren't that long either) and I also start towards the tip of the hairs & cut really fast backwards (I learned that from watching human hair dressers use them). lolOriginally Posted by Giselle

The way I was taught was to start about 4-5" from the tips and rapidly open and close the scissors while moving to the tips of the hair. I agree with Sarah, as well. You get better results when you cut closer to the joint of the shears.
