At the shelter where I work we have a Darwin.
So named because she was rescued by a truck driver who scooped her off the interstate as she was attempting to cross.

Wish I had a scanner so I could send a picture of my Spotnose. He's got "a face only a mother could love."

We have Norton, who was rescued from a sewer. When I first saw him at the shelter(in 1993!!!!), I asked about his " story." Then I asked what was his name, the workers told me Bandit, because he would steal their sandwiches. I could not think of the character Norton of the Honeymooners first name(ED), then just said, he came from the sewer, you have to call him NORTON. Then we adopted him!!

I like Pouncette, too. And I think her new owners should have kept her old name. Missiger is kind of unusual. I got that name from a movie.

I guess I like the stories of how the names came about.
Like, Marshall (found in a marsh)
    Avon (ding dong! Avon calling)
Polly Paws (all those extra toesies!)
Seymour (my sister's cat). A stray that climbed in her window looking for warmth and food. She hoped to See More of him -- and she did!
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

My favorite pet talk kitty names are cute ones like Mookey, Fuzzy wuzzi, Bunnybutt etc..
Then there are those names that have a special meaning to me like Mimi, Willy and Poppy.

Thanks to BCBlondie for this great signature!

One of our foster mothers got nine kittens dumped on her, so she named them after the planets.
