    Here's an update....

Family Might Not Keep Dog Stuck To Tracks
    Dog Given As Gift

    POSTED: 9:24 am EST December 28, 2005

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. -- Owners of Ice Train, a Siberian husky rescued after its tail froze tight to railroad tracks, have come forward.

But they're not sure they will try to reclaim the runaway pooch.

A construction worker noticed the dog stuck to the tracks in Chippewa Falls the morning of Dec. 19. With the help of an animal control officer and a police officer, the dog was freed about 10 minutes before a train was due.

The family has visited the pup they knew as Nobie in the shelter where he's staying. They received the dog as a gift a couple months ago.

Fifty people have filed to adopt the 1-year-old who bolted from his owner while taking an off-leash walk.

Poor pup! I can't imagine how awful it would be to be frozen, alone, and scared. I'm really glad someone rescued him!
I wonder why the owners do not want the dog back??

They received the dog as a gift so perhaps the dog was too much for them to handle. Perhaps they weren't ready for a dog. I'm glad people have come forward to adopt him. He will more than likely find a good home.

Huskies can be alot more dog than some people are ready to deal with - the story mentioned he ran off during an off-leash walk and that's a no-no for husky owners -- you keep them leashed at all times because they do run off, it's their nature! (unless, like Glacier, you take them where there's no where to run off to!) I think they took him cause somebody gave him away & he's gorgeous, not because they understood the breed. Hopefully he'll end up in a home suitable for huskies!

    I live near there.

Also, it wasn't his tail that was frozen to the tracks, it was his whole body -- he was pulled off by his tail.

Ten or fifteen minutes later a train passed by on the same tracks.
