I'm so glad you have such a good friend close by to help you through this. I'm also so very glad that Speckles seems to have perked up a bit and actually begged for food! Way to go Specks!!!Now that you've got the procedure down and the kidney meds have had time to start kicking in a little, hopefully you'll start to see a slow but steady improvement in her. All I know is if she's asking for food, she's not ready to go yet, and that is a HUGE relief!

I forgot all about the snuggle safe thing! We put a heating pad under a towel for Tubby and he seemed to enjoy it. Once he started feeling better he'd sleep half on and half off so we thought maybe he was getting too warm and turned it off, but he seemed to appreciate it when he wasn't feeling that well.
{{{hugs}}} and good thoughts and prayers going out that she steadily improves!![]()

I'm so glad that Speckles felt well enough after her fluids to have a bite to eat.
I've been finally defrosted by cassiesmom!

Nomi: I thank you so much for the offer. Right now I don't really have her on any special diet at all...I just want her to eat something. Once she starts to feel better (hopefully) then I will incorporate more of the low protein wet food.
Debbie: Does this mean that she is salvageable??![]()

I was up a few times in the night and tried to encourage her to use the litter box but I failed. This morning, her blanket was wet again even though the LB is right next to her. I also changed it to one with lower sides to make it easier for her to get in and out of. She is really having trouble walking and this has me concerned. She can't stand when she eats or drinks. I'm going to call the vet this morning. I don't want her to get to the point of peeing and pooping herself.
I gave her fresh water this morning as usual and she was at the water dish for at least 5 minutes, drinking and drinking. I'm starting to give her fresh water twice a day now. She is eating a wee bit as I write this but she's certainly not as enthusiastic about it as she was last night. Oh yes, I got the needle in right the first time this morning. She really is very cooperative and that is very surprising. I guess she knows that it's good for her. I'm also surprising myself.....I really didn't think I could do it and be so calm about it. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
While I was submitting the fluids I had a talk with her and told her to please let me know when she's had enough and wants to cross the bridge. She looked up at me and let out a silent meow and I know that she understood.
Thanks again for your good thoughts and prayers. It's a cold sunny day today and I get to play Santa again. Lots of happy furry four-legged pups to hold....it can't get better than that.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Slick, I know you worried about giving her the fluids, but you've done very well!I'm glad to hear Speckles is eating - if only a little. As Debbie said, that means she hasn't given up completely.
I'll will keep you and Speckles in my thoughts and send lots of positive vibes to you both. Give her gentle kisses from me - Fister is keeping his paws crossed for her too.
Get a good nights sleep, so you can cope tomorrow.
Lots of ((((((hugs))))))
