I've come to the same conclusion.
I got Smokey because his mom and dad lived together (with me and my 2 roommates - their dogs) and they were not fixed. She got pregnant when he was only 9 months old! Trust me, if they were my dogs that wouldn't have happened.
Anyway, I kept Smokey from the litter but my next dog will definitely be a rescue. I have little pangs of guilt sometimes but at least I gave this unplanned puppy a good home.
