I don't have any, but my best friend has 5 that she's had for 3 years. I don't think she's ever had problems with them molting. You just have to do your research ahead of time, like with any animal. They aren't something you can just put in a tank and ignore (not that I think you'll do that) hermit crabs need a lot of care. They aren't easy to care for pets.

I had two a long time ago. I wasn't aware that they molted. I just knew that you had to keep other shells in with them because as they outgrew their current "home", they'd move into a new and larger unoccupied shell.
Mine never moved so they must of been full grown. I had them for a few years.![]()

I'v had 6 at one time. Scrappy,Scooby,Big Joe,Sheldan,Gilligan, and Mary-ann. I don't know if they molt in pet stores. But they do definaly molt. You have to clean out the cage when they do. They are are really active at night. Get a sponge because they DON"T drink from bowls. Only one of mine did because he was weird. Give them cheerios. They LOVE cheerios. Get extra shells. They really need those! Good Luck!

I curently have three hermies living with me. I have had them for about 3yrs or so. Well anyway, I haven't had any problems with them molting or anything. I just see them change shells every so often. I have a sponge in there along with a water bowl and food bowl. I have to give the hermies a bath every week so some sort of gills that they have stay moist. I'm sure it says that somewhere on a website. Also make sure you have a big tank for them to stay in. I used to have a pretty small one but I could tell they didn't like it so I bought them a big tank and now they are pretty happy.
Good Luck on Getting Your Hermies!!
ps- I bought my hermies at a petstore and they don't seem to be less healthy than any other that I've seen. You might also be able to find some wild ones. I know I've found some before. But those are salt water hermies and take alot more care plus they are meant to be in the wild.
