Speckles Needs Prayers!

Good grief, Slick, I think you are definitely one of the more popular ones on the board!!!!!

I have positive thoughts and prayers flowing for Speckles. The vet might pull a miracle yet, so hang in there!!!!

Oh Slick, I knew you were concerned (aren't we always concerned when our loved ones start to slow down as they grow older) - but sweetheart, I didn't know dear Spleckles had declined this way

I think I may think twice about travelling for awhile. Too much happens to those I love - skin and fur alike - and I never know until so much later. I feel like I'm not where I should be when someone needs a hug or a smile or just a soft touch. Feel my hug, see my smile and feel a soft touch from me Slick. You know how to find me.

I am with Logan ,you Max And Spreckles are very popular here.
I am sorry to hera that Spreckles is ill,and I hope that the White Coats can help,as they did with Moose who looks a lot better.

My regular vet is out of town on a seminar for a week so I saw the assistant. I do not know him as well as Dr. Singh however he is just as compassionate and I do trust him.

Speckles has lost 1/2 lb in the last 6 months and has to stay at the whitecoats overnight. It was such a sad thing to have to put her in a cage all by herself and when I left the room she meowed. That did me in. I was, and still am a blubbering idot. It's soooo hard to leave them.

So she does have a bit of an infection in her mouth and she is dehydrated. They will do a full blood panel as well as take a urine sample and together they will tell the health of the kidneys. As well, I have asked them to do an x-ray to see if she is plugged up or if there is anything such as a mass that is stopping her from having a good BM (not referring to a Bloody Mary here..). If the x-ray shows something nasty, then the next step is an ultrasound and I've requested that it be done at the Animal Critical Care Unit which is where our dear friend Naomi's Bassett had her sir jury. If the x-ray shows that she's plugged then she gets a kitty enema.

If the blood work shows that her kidneys are OK, or have not gotten worse, then she will be sent home tomorrow with antibiotics. If her kidneys are critical, then she will stay for another day or two to get them flushed out with fluids. Then I will have to learn how to give Sub-Q fluids at home.

With everything combined (excluding the ultrasound of course) the bill will come to about $500. Fortunately, I can pay that off in 3 payments. I really love my vet.

So tonight I only have one kitty to feed. Tonight I will only have one kitty on the bed with me and tomorrow morning, only one kitty will be hungry for breakfast. This is just so hard.
