Example:

The glasses usually do an instant FOG-over as the warm, moist air
in the house condenses on the cold surface of the glass lenses.
Simlar things can happen inside cameras - IF the camera gets "cold enough"
and then is brought into a warm environment.
Warm the camera up for several hours - give any moisture trapped inside the camera
time to evaporate - then try it again.
IF you have to send the camera out for repairs -
the chances of getting it back in time for Christmas is pretty slim.
