The US is NOT trying Hussein. For a multitude of reasons the trial has been left to the new Iraqi government, and according to their laws what he is being tried for is a capital crime. (the murder of a few hundred thousand Iraqis is something the Iraqi government does not take lightly)

Assasination is against US Policy and law by virtue of two executive orders, one from President Carter, and one from President Reagan.

BTW, assasination, even under the terms you mentioned, is probably not something you want to mention in the terms you used. The secret service doesn't take kindly to it.

Yes I know the US isn't involved, or so they say. But they seem to have set up the whole trial and are hovering over it a little too eagerly.

Of course the US is interested in the trial. It would be foolish not to be. The outcome of the trial could have significant effects on the future of Iraq. A Nuremburg type war crimes trial was considered, but being as his main crimes were done inside Iraq, it was decided that the Iraqis should have first crack at him.

I SO agree! they should of just shot him. I know it sounds evil but he was and is an evil man
