It also annoys me when the media sooo eagerly labels ANY bully-type dog as a "Pit Bull". the term has almost lost all meaning, anymore... because any Amstaff, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Presa Canario, American Bulldog, and basically any mixed breed dog with a meat muzzle can be a "Pit Bull" in their eyes.

Also, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are COMPLETELY different from APBT's. APBT's are, however, basically the same as American Staffordshire Terriers... which is why the AKC has yet to recognize American Pit Bull Terriers, because they elected to recognize the name "American Staffordshire Terriers" instead. My friend has a purebred Amstaff and a purebred Staffy, both registered, and completely different dogs. Her staffy girl is about half the size of her Amstaff, and much more bouncy and outgoing. Her amstaff has a super stable, good-natured temperament but she's reserved with strangers... she has much perkier eyes and a longer muzzle, while the staffy has more drooped eyes and a bullier face.

Anyway, I'd bet anything that ATLEAST 90% of the "Pit Bulls" we see in the media attacking people and animals are not even close to being registered dogs, period. They're a mix of dozens of breeds thanks to sick fighter BYB's, and they're definitely not bred to win shows, pass their CGC test and become therapy dogs
