The standard "rule of thumb" is to allow 1/2 lb of uncooked turkey per person. Of course it would depend on how many side dishes are served as to whether everyone would be satiated with their turkey serving. Keep in mind they are not saying 1/2 turkey meat per person, they are allowing for bones and gizzards etc. I'll be cooking a small ham on the grill as well as the standard turkey dinner but usually end up with a fairly good sized bird because we LOVE the leftovers.
