Should I grow old or become infirm before death catches me, and should I then wind up in a nursing home, I would hope that someone would be so kind and thoughtful as to bring by a cat such as Pywacket to visit with me, frequently. This would not make my life altogether good, but it would certainly add a bright touch to it.

Truly, Pywacket is a beautiful and grand cat who must have just a touch of asbestos in his soft fur.

Now... meaning no offense to anyone... I see that an old complaint of mine has surfaced once again... namely, picking out a warm and endearing feature in an individual cat and then likening it to the behavior of a dog. No! No! No! Pywacket follows you around like the cat that he is, and not as a dog would!

No cat should ever be compared to a dog, especially in such a way as to say that it's dog-like trait(s) raise it a wag above other cats. No! No! No! It is just not right! Cats are wonderful, elegant, mysterious, creatures and each and every one is an individual with its own characteristics and all these characteristics are cat-like, not dog-like and I, for one, grow weary of seeing a cat praised as being special and above average for having one or more dog-like traits, when actually that cat has no dog-like traits, but rather its own, individual, cat-like traits.

Now, if someone should make a report of a cat that actually and genuinely barks, even as it raises its leg to pee on post or tree, I might possibly rethink my position in relation to that particular cat, although I am not certain.

Traveling has again made me absent. I wander even at this moment - currently I am at the northern-most bend of the Yukon River, where the weather has been very hot, hotter than what many of you southerners have been experiencing, but I have found my way to an internet connection and so send my praises not only to Pywacket, but to those COTD's that I have missed as of late.

Two days hence, I shall be home again, briefly. There, I will be met at the door by a black cat who will follow me from room to room - often following by running ahead of me, for he knows where I am going - just like a cat would.
