I too sincerely hope President Clinton has learned some lessons after having a second dog victim to a roadkill.
The lab pup is from a breeder. It would have been nice if it had been a rescue, but adopting from a shelter would have been difficult if adoptors knew two of his past dogs were run over. Yet I bet a lab rescue would have been willing to take that chance.
Of course President Bush took some heat for not taking his much talked about Ernie to the White House. They did not want to declaw him like Indie. So he was rehomed to a friend in LA, but Ernie got loose on the streets for two weeks before returning. Suffice to say, pets have been used by both Republicans and Democrats.
Taking Socks as a rescue was a great PR for the ex-President and shelters. I hope the new puppy does well.
