All three of my hedgies: Spike, Pepper, and Splinter have done it. (Splinter still does!) I believe they take very long sleeps, then wake up. I think also that in MN< because it is so cold, it causes them to go into a little hibernation mode. I am not quite sure though. So far, nothing has gone wrong with them doing that with me!
