Just seeing this post... "Green" puppies are very common when whelping litters. It's caused by the fluids in the placenta touching the puppy. I've had a few green pups, give them a few hours of Mom licking and they are gold again. I couldn't believe someone actually put this on the news, guess I could have been "famous" too!![]()

I am thinking the poor thing could have liver problems cause of the green colour.

A friend of mine told me that they found out it definitely wasn't green from the placenta, but that it was actually the pup's hair color. I will have to ask her where she got her info from on that.

Hummm, see if you can find out where she heard that. All of the breeders on my other forums agree it's placenta, since we've all seen it on our own pups. But it would be interesting to find out if it's actually something else, though I'm not sure what would cause a puppies coat to be green...Originally Posted by K9soul
