Don't think of yourself as being irresponsable! If a cat wants to, there isnt anything that will stop them from getting out. My Spooky kitty ended up getting out through the DRYER VENT a couple of days ago and got stuck up a tree.

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear that Hallie got out and is now lost. Please don't blame yourself because as others have said when a cat wants to get out they'll find a way to do it.
