Another Turtle....

I sent some letters to the local media around here, just to let everyone know. Hopefully a few of them will run the story. I talked to a local reptile store, and he said that everyday they throw at least 20 of the babies away, dead.

The mall never responded to any of my 3 letters.

I've tried everything other than taking him to a vet, I believe he's slowly fading away. He sits out of the water all day everyday, and is becoming much less responsive to me.

You won't believe it. I sent those letters in last night....they had a special on illegally selling hatchlings around this area on the news!! I didn't catch it, I wasn't home but I was sure happy that it aired. My dad called and said hey did you hear about it...and I was like wow, I sent them letters! It's kind of exciting to be able to do that.

Okay, at officially 2:32 PM on November 14, the Westfield Shopping Center (the mall in my area) has ceased to sell hatchling turtles. I got the call today, from my ABC Action News. It's so wonderful to be able to do something for those little guys. I do wonder what happened to all of them, but at least they won't be continuously sold and add to the cycle.

EDIT: Wait.. westfield shopping center?? We have those here in Missouri, too! I certainly hope NONE of them pick up shops trying to sell hatchlings!! They do sell hermit crabs and that I think alone is bad enough (because the cages are open and just anyone can walk up and handle them, and kids come up and will shake them/drop them/hit them and it just kills me )
