Reese went into heat before her scheduled spay. Turns out she was older than they first estimated. We just rode it out - the worst was over in a couple of days. Just make sure she doesn't meet any boy cats -![]()

Lut, I'm pretty sure the vet will not want to spay her while she is in heat, anyway. I think there is a lot more risk, then. I will also add that I had Mimi spayed while she was in heat and Shrimp Boat too!I have never heard such wailing and howling in my life!!!!
And the things Shrimp Boat would do to get close to my husband! OMG!!!! LOL!!!!! She would back up into his face at every chance!!!!! Tell your hubby to watch out!!!!!
You have my sympathy!!!
Actually, I have been told (at least in Abby's case anyway) that it is better to spay WHILE they are in heat - the reproductive organs are enlarged and easier to find and cut and snip. Sorry if that's a little graphicThere's probably different opinions among different vets, though.
Lut, there are pills on the market for cut/prevent heat in cats and dogs made by progesterone. Ask at your vet clinic they may know and supplies. You will need, err...I mean Zazou, a couple of doses to calm down.
Hope you can get ahold of them and everybody have a nice and peaceful weekend. It's not funny, specially for poor Zazou![]()
I will try to call the clinic in the morning. It is nearly 11.15 pm now, so they might not appreciate an almost hysterical catmommy now....Originally Posted by koxka

It sure is NOT! The poor thing is really screaming for a tomcat....! No worries, she won't meet any, as she is still strictly indoors!!Hope you can get ahold of them and everybody have a nice and peaceful weekend. It's not funny, specially for poor Zazou![]()
Funny for those who understand Dutch: a tomcat is also called a "kater" here; let that now also be the same word for a hangover....![]()

Indra was sick today (no school) and Zazou cried so loud that Indra could hear it in her bed! She made me laugh so hard when she yelled: "mommy, give that cat a beer, will you!!"
Got it??
I miss you enormously Sydney, Maya, Inka & ZazouBe happy there at the Rainbow Bridge
Might I suggest a large bottle or two of white zinfandel???????![]()
Oh... you were asking if there is something you can do for Zazou????![]()
Sorry, I have no advice for you. I was lucky to get Sasha in before she went into heat for her first time. And Tabitha..... well, the time came for her to IMMEDIATELY get fixed after she backed up to me in bed, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.... and peed on me! The time had come!![]()
Good luck! And lots of prayers coming your way for all of you and your family!
Hope you will be able to get her fixed very soon. Have you considered earplugs?? Good luck!!
Nine is Fine!!
Lut, I'm sorry to hear that Zazou has gone into heat. She must be miserable and I'm sure you're also getting very irritated.I don't have any advice but hopefully she'll calm down on her own in a few days. I'd also look into having another vet perform her surgery asap. Good luck.
