Pre=Poll questions for No. CA December mtg

OK, now I feel horrible about mentioning our wine plans. This was something Karen invited us to...and opened her home to 3 PTers...along with her already full house.

I don't want to impose upon Karen and Aaron's invite. I think we need to stick to planning something laid back (I'm still in recovery, I can't do a whole lot....and Gini will be driving both ways - unless she wants Richard or I to manipulate Scotty! )

I propose leaving Karen out of anything else at her house. She's already opening it up to three adults and that's a lot. AND VERY GRACIOUS OF HER and AARON.

I think maybe something at KAK's place would be nice...and laid back. We wont tire anyone out and if its a potluck, not even Tracey will be running ragged on her own bday.

Please don't think I/we are being exculsionary. This is something that was planned amoungst a group of people months ago. I'm not saying people aren't welcome, but its not really a pet talk thing, more of a common interest amoung friends. It sounds like everyone outside Gini, Richard, Karen, Aaron and myself aren't into wine anyway....

So, can we plan for something at KAK's beautiful outdoor area?? That way the pressure is off Karen/Aaron to entertain all weekend...unvoluntary...and it seems like its the best avenue for the people coming.

This sounds fine with me. I can even rent out the club house but I think I can only rent it out for 4 hours and I'm not sure if this includes cleaning time too. I just have to pay a small fee and then write another check for a security deposit which I'll get back after it's inspected to make sure that it's clean and that everything is in place. They used to have a pool table and a ping pong table which could also be used when the clubhouse was rented out. I can also look into this if anyone would be interested in using these.

I never wanted to burden Karen and Aaron and AmberLee and I were just throwing a few suggestions out there since Kelly seemed to want to know what we should do and where we should meet on Sunday from the LA Meeting Thread. I hope that this thread hasn't upset anyone because this certainly wasn't the intention.

Well, Golly Gee.....here I was today planning my vacation time with my boss. Taking last two weeks of Nov and first week of Dec. I did entertain the thought of purchasing a plane ticket and surprising everyone by showing up at the winery and booking a hotel room for that night........what the h*** was I thinking!!!

Don't worry about it guys. When everyone got so excited in the LA thread just at the mention of folks coming to see me, I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings since everyone was assuming it was a PT meeting. I hadn't even thought ahead for what we were going to do on Sunday, so that's why I made that statement about brainstorming, so everyone else went running with the planning. That's fine. It really all comes down to what everyone wants to do at this point (including my guests, and especially the driver). If everyone wants to go north, that's fine. If everyone wants to come south, that's fine, we'll adjust our plans accordingly.

Please don't take everything so personally, though! That's not the intention.

Slick, if you were thinking about coming down, that's great! Just let us know ahead of time, so we can plan appropriately. I wasn't aware that you were planning on anything of the sort, so how can I accomodate when I don't even know?

Again, the purpose of this isn't to hurt anyone's feelings, and after reading these past few posts...I'm getting that impression...
This whole thing was just originally mentioned at the LA meeting for a few people to come up and go to the winery and just hang out and take it easy. That's all.

OK, so now I'm scared to put ANYTHING in writing here...it'll haunt me!!

I'm not sure where all the confusion came from. When Karen and Aaron invited us up, it wasn't a PT thing. When I said, "looking forward to December" that was directed to Karen. From now on, I'll just keep my direct statements to PMs or emails.

While it'd be great to get together, we didn't know what the weekend entailed with Karen and Aaron, so it isn't up to us to plan that stuff. I felt so bad for Karen, being bombarded with all this stuff...she only invited a few people to her home and it just exploded on her. I feel even more badly because I'm the one that made the comment about coming up.

Lets try and plan something laid back for Sunday. Karen/Aaron work long, hard hours and have long, horrid commutes during the week. I don't want us coming up to cost them any rest they need. I'm not sure if I can handle much more than Saturday's wine tasting...my body is so tired from working and trying to heal...and, lucky for me, my pain has gotten worse than before. This trip was something made so that during my surgery, recovery and sad times, I could look forward to seeing my best friend...that's all this was.

Like Karen, I hope no one's feeling are hurt. That wasn't our intention.

Hopefully everything will work out, and everyone will be happy. I just feel so bad my comment made this whole thing get blown up into Karen's lap. (I'm sorry, honey!! )

We have a bit of time to plan. Maybe we should all wait until November to pick what else we can do?

OK...off to move bad Basie to our new place (CiCi's)...he refused to come out of hiding last night, so he had to spend all night all alone!! Poor baby!!
