Ducks are a lot more domesticated than a monkey from Africa, and that's my point.Originally Posted by Flatcoatluver
And you can't compare the wildness of a monkey to the wildness to that of a dog. Dogs have been domesticated over hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Monkeys have been domesticated.... never.

Yea anyways...it's usually not a good thing to keep a wild animal in your home. This is a completely different climate than Africa. They don't sell prepackaged monkey food or toys..it's really not ideal. Now if you had a large enclosure designed for a monkey...maybe it would work. But actually the disease thing really bothers me...importing creatures that are not native can wreak havoc.
It's the same thing as having a tiger in your home. Please reconsider bringing it home.

oh, you make me laugh you guys! I did say i had a monkey, BUT i never said it lived with ME. He lives in Africa with the family I stayed with!LOL! I know how much paperwork and stuff you have to put up with. I tried to bring James over before he got poisoned and there was like a 300 dollar fine for 1 month of quarantine, and i can't afford that. Especially if it were a monkey. Trust me, i looked into this. He actually IS domesticated and he did come from a breeder. He can be held, walk on a leash, he gives kisses, and sits and all that great stuff. But he is considered domestic over there, and according to the 'standards' he passes for domestic animal. He isn't at all wild though, which is cool, and he is SUPER tiny! I sent money over to have him vaccinated, they said 15 dollars would last for his vet bills for LIFE! That's crazy! Just imagine if we could all take our pets over to Africa and have their vet bills taken care of for under 1 dollar per visit! Well, i hope that resolved everyones problems, and without further adu(is that how you spell it?)
Emory!!!!!
