    Actually, the Australian Shepherd originated in America. The australian cattle dog (or blue heeler) originated in Australia...as did the Australian Kelpie, Silky Terrier, etc. But sadly, not the australian shepherd.

    Ireland: Irish Setter! Beautiful dogs in a show coat. Not very beautiful dogs when they're not brushed out and slobbering on themselves, but hey they're sweethearts.

    Ahh that's exactly what I was going to say but you beat me to it!

    I can not find any from Puerto Rico, except for El Chupacabra ;D

    Immiq (Inuit- Canadian Eskimo dog)

    Found this amazing photo - these two live together! 1200 lb. male polar bear & 150 lb. Immiq



    mmmmm...Hawaii (I'm not even sure if there ARE any native Hawaiian dogs? - if not, then how about from another island country?)

    This cat, the Kohana (or Hawaiian Hairless) originated in Hawaii. I couldn't find any dogs from hawaii though. However, the maltese comes from the island of malta. (Just don't ask me where that is.)

    FYI - Malta is a small island south of Sicily in the Mediterranean (my friend's mom is from Malta)
