    ..not yet. just an (worthless) update of me.

    I'm taking a deep breath as typing this out.. I've been up again for hours this morning, posting all over this site to keep my mind occupied.. I'm worn out. it's too hard, so restless, tummy twisting, anxiously waiting to call, to check on my little star. the office won't open in about an half hour or so..



    rereading the posts, thank you kelly for the raw diet link. I remembered how greatly & quikc it helped your micah - I have a question, how much did you needed to feed your micah his raw diet weekly? I hope to try raw diet once star comes home, she has been "drinking" lotsa of fluids lately.



    star soon will know you all are pulling for her & I'll have you to star as soon as I know something new.

    september 23rd update..

    hi,

    it was pretty busy for everyone at the office this morning (7-8:30AM drop/walk-ins) but doctor coast was sweet ebough to pause everything and speak with me. here are what we talked about on phone -

    star is not as bad as a couple of past days, her pancreatic enzyme level seems a little better. (good!) they tried feeding her some strained meat baby food, she only would want to lick five-ten times but it was better than last time I tried to feed her! (yay. star liked chicken better).

    I also asked him about raw diet just to see what he thinks about.. he said it's a good idea but preferably after star's BUN (blood urea nittrogen) level goes below 50 or so. he's afraid with raw (high protien) would stress her kidneys. right now her BUN level is around 60, a few less than before. (reminder: normal level is 10-30mg/ld). but would like me to try raw diet after she rests a little more.. also, for her IBD (imflamm-bowel disease), doctor coast said it looks better! the last antibodic we gave her in fluidbag was the strongest one and hopefully the digust virus will stay away for a long time!

    last.. subquefluids, she's back and catheter, receiving lotsa, lotsa of sodium fluids. she's having her fourth 100cc fluids now since yesterday morning. star is able to come home tomorrow afternoon or earlier if her progress is going up as good as up.

    so...when she comes home, she'll be bringing me a couple bags of subques again (baby turkey food too) and do one bag in her everyday for five days. well, our guess plan is still out in the air but we'll know more by tomorrow when I pick her up.



    yeah star!! please continue fiiight, girl!! I really look forward to pick you up tomorrow.. and start new after.. I've missed you soo much and it hurts to miss! please know I've been thinking of you every moment I've left you in this cold steel cage, I love you my girl.

    Hello Star: Regarding the raw meat diet, an average size cat eats about 1/4 lb. of BALANCED raw diet per day. Your vet is partially correct in wanting to keep the protein level low, But the latest research points to the fact that it is the quality of protein, not the quantity of protein that is at question. The quality of protein in processed cat food, whether kibble or canned is very questionable - that is why feeding raw is SO important in maintaining optimal health.

    YAY star!! keep fighting. we all know you will get better! i am glad you are able to go home with your meowmie tomorrow! she loves you more than you can imagine! i am so sorry and happy at the same, gina. she is fighting for you, and wants to come home to you. thoughts and prayers always coming your way!!!

    I don't think I've cracked a smiled for a long time.

    lilith & mytsic.. my heart cries, we feel special you've been staying with this little star closely, by her side. and hope she has purred a little, sending a hello to puddy, oreo & filou!

    I sure hope my dear star is still doing good. there is two vet techs working with sick cats during midnight to early morning.. I just tried to call again (2:30AM here), no answer, I guess they turned off rings for the night.. darn.



    anyway, I'll beep you all when I'm my way picking her up! I pray..
