Hello Star: Regarding the raw meat diet, an average size cat eats about 1/4 lb. of BALANCED raw diet per day. Your vet is partially correct in wanting to keep the protein level low, But the latest research points to the fact that it is the quality of protein, not the quantity of protein that is at question. The quality of protein in processed cat food, whether kibble or canned is very questionable - that is why feeding raw is SO important in maintaining optimal health.
