.Powerful, leg rings are used by breeders to keep track of the clutch number and is the birdie equivalent of a dog's registration with the AKC or similar kennel club. Breeders use either the metal ring which includes the bird's birthdate and location, but others use colored plastic rings just for identification (i.e. Red= male, Blue= female, or they color their clutches if the birds they're using are going to be kept in large aviaries).
