Koxka, there are 5 outside furkids. One of them is Mama cat. She was the first cat that I gave a home to, being a "stray", and this was 6 years ago. All of my furkids are directly or indirectly related to her, excpet Tiger and Amy. I believe that she is approximately 8 years old. I do not allow them in the house because of the problems they cause those of the inside clan. If they were an only pet, then I could let them inside. (My inside furkids are not the types to be let alone outside, as I know they would fall prey to marauders.) They have lived through coyote raids and many dog incursions. So, I do not worry about their safety, as they all know that they should run opon the roof of the house for safety -and that is where they go. I can tell whether a cat is safe outdoors or not, by their dependence or constant need for other's affection-personality. All of the outdoor cats are class "A" type (aggressive and independent ) personalities. One of them (Checker) is incurably feral.
Last night it was cold here especially for this time of year. And do you think that the time I needed their warmth that they would come to bed? No! Except, Amy, Tiger and Fawn.I got up and put on some night clothes to keep warm. Any other time I would have to take some blankets off the bed so I wouldn't get too warm. Although they have been on a "rampage" for the past 2 days and nights, maybe they will settle down tonight. I do enjoy their sleep company, and when I wake up early in the AM, sometimes it is nearly impossible to get out of the covers because of my furkids surrounding me.
