dab_20,
I have the same problem with one of my dogs running away when she has gotten loose. The best advice I have is to be very careful not to let her get loose! I know that doesn't say much about how to change the behavior, but it would be terrible if your dog ran into the road and had an accident.
The problem with my dog probably started because she is smart enough to learn that I didn't always follow up when I asked her to do something. In other words, if I asked her to come and she didn't, I would just forget about it. Now, I enforce my commands (if she doesn't come inside when I call, I bring her inside, I also practiced using a 20 ft. leash). Her behavior has improved and she has been listening better. You might try that..hopefully it helps! Good luck
