Tiger did the same to me just before her spay appointment. I let her out and she disappeared. Like any other cat lover I was greatly worried about her. I knew that she wasn't far off but why did she not come in for her usual evening meal? The next morning I found her less that 25ft. away from home, but apparently she had snooped around under the neighbor's mobile home, and since there were two others living under there, that they oprobably wouln't let her out without attacking her. She was laying with the others on the grass just outside the entrance of the under-home opening. She was one scared kitty, very weak and hungry. When I picked her up she was still growling at her "captors". Since that time and after her spaying, she does not make any attempts to get outside any longer, except once and then Mama cat attacked her. So now she is content to stay inside, where she can do what she wants, including playing, sleeping, eating, and receiving a few scritchies and huggies.
