Insulating a cage?

My little sister LOVES rabbits, but my mom is allergic to them. We were wondering if we got one, how to insulate it's cage in the winter. We would bring it in if a night would get too cold or something, and we can bring it in to play with, so it will be well cared for.

Any suggestions will be welcomed!

My grandpa made our rabbits cages, He made a "house" type thing for them, with window. He made it with a lot of really thick wood, and he but insulation inbetween the wood (so the rabbits couldnt get at it) he put a LOT of insulation in there, because rabbits can easily die, if they are not warm enough. You need to put something in it too, like straw or sawdust witch you can buy at Tom's Town and Country or the Country Store in town here. But you need to be sure it gets cleaned out VERY often, because rabbits can get very sick if they are laying in there own "discharge" I would suggest litterbox training it, mine were completly litterboxed trained and it works wonders to save a lot of time cleaning there whole house out, letting it air out, and disinfecting it. When I had an outdoor bunny, his hutch was in two parts...One part was open, and the other part was enclosed so that he could get privacy and escape from extreme weather. In each section we had part wire bottom and part solid so he wasn't sitting on wire all the time, and he was smart enough not to soil the solid part of the floor.

Despite a lot of mixed feelings about outdoor bunnies, Winter was well-loved and lived a little over nine years. (He also looked just like PT bunny Oslo!)

We would keep him inside 24/7 besides the fact that my mom is allergic to him.
Thanks for the idea, I think that we will check into that one. I don't know how much we could have open though, it gets really cold in Minnesota

But you also have to think about the summers! Rabbits don't handle heat well at all.

Very true, I was more worried about winter! Our garage stays cooler in the summer time, on really hot days, I am thinking that this bunny would be inside also!
