Collars can be dangerous for cats as well, if they are not fitting correctly. However, a snug fit collar should cause no problems for cats nor ferrets. He only wears it occasionally, when I can watch him and take pictures. The main thing is making sure they do not get it caught in their teeth, or catch it on something. My old ferrets always wore collars without a problem.
