Yep, they usually have quite a few babies. They already have fur and their eyes will open in about a week and three days.

I am sorry to hear Jasper is ill.

I had a rat that had 22 babies. It was insane!!! they were all the size of a runt. Poor mom couldn't care for that many, so I brought in back up I split the litter into 3 & let the other moms care for a few.

That was my largest litter ever & I don't want it ever again. 16 was my average & the mom could handle that, but 22!!

Ya, I'm lucky to say I've yet to have a litter that large LOL! Did they all make it?

Its been a few yrs... but I'm pretty sure 4 died. I think 1 died the first day & the others just kinds died over a few days. I'm assuming due to the super large litter, those 4 just weren't developed(their insides) enough to have been born.

I would LOVE to get back into rats again, but I don't see that happening, as I have been asked to only keep fish & the current reptile (who should be around for another 20+yrs). I can live with only fish. I do love fish Oh I have also been told no more snails. They r bugs & bugs deserve to get squished ... ohwell, once again, I can have fish

awwww.. I miss holding baby rats. My mommy rat always brought her babies to me. SHe would open her cage, grab a baby, blimb down the big rat cage, run across the floor, up my bed & drop it into my hands & run off to get another. It took her forever to bring all the babies to me & then one by one she would bring them back After a few times of that, I decided to twist tie her cage shut. I was tired of it taking nearly 2hrs to do this once a day. Atleast she loved her babies & me
