Smokey just started training and he is a biter! But he's getting better...
What we've done is say OUCH in a high pitch voice and he usually stops. If he keeps going and we do the OUCH thing a few more times then he gets picked up with as little aknowledgment possible, put in his crate and ignored for 20 seconds (I leave the room). Then I come back, let him out and if it happens again - Yep, back in the crate.
Our trainer says sometimes she does this 10 times an hour if needed!
It's kind of like, "Hey, what just happened here? We were playing and now all contact has stopped!" But make sure it's only 15-20 seconds or so cuz if it's longer the pup will find something else to do and forget why he was put in his crate in the first place. If you don't have a crate - then a safe room or whatever.
It's only been a few days but Smokey seems to be picking up on it... He doesn't nip at my ankles like he used to and the hand biting has turned more into hand licking (...after 3 trips to the crate)
GOOD LUCK!
