He has opinions that seem odd to me but what makes him seem a bit fruity is that he claims to be an expert in psychiatric illness and medication. I remember when I was in middle and high school and he was like a teen idol figure, lots of girls had Tom Cruise posters from Top Gun and Cocktail in their lockers and rooms. I think he is type cast a lot as an arrogant, self-absorbed character, and I've wondered before if he was acting or if that came naturally .
