Gee, you must not have grown up in a Scandinavian-inhabited area! I am, as my user name is also my REAL name, a Karen. There were three Karens with my same last name in my own home town - and lots of other Karens, Karins, Karyn, etc. My elder siblings names are also Swedish, but not as common a choice as Karen!

That must have been so strange to have 3 other people in your hometown with your name! How funny is THAT??!! LOL I think I would have been freaked out if anyone had my name, because there aren't that many Riss's (Riss is my maiden name) around!
