    My Dad said that too...we had only Oreo for 12 years and kept begging for another dog, always hearing that. While, all us kids moved out, and mom stopped listening, or finally wore him down (not really sure which!) ...but you can see how well he follwed through on his threat, 5 additioanl dogs dogs later!
