    Veterinarian report:

SHE POOPED! She got an enema, and SHE POOPED, and POOPED, and POOPED some more!!!

She weighed in at 9.5 ounces (BEFORE the poop, so I'm thinking she probably weighed about .5 ounces AFTER the poop! ) The Vet. says her lungs sound a little congested, but not bad, and there's no need to have her PTS at this point! If we can get her through this next week, she will have an EXCELLENT chance of living a long, healthy, happy life!

She is 2 1/2 to 3 weeks old, and as long as she is eating and pottying and pooping, and taking her medicine, she should pull through. We got another enema to bring home with us, so we can use that on her if needed, if she doesn't poop again on her own within the next two or three days. There was no evidence of any blood in her urine or in her stool, so she's OK in that respect.

I took a couple of pictures of her sitting in the postal scale "bucket thingie" getting weighed. I used my 35 mm camera, so will have to wait to get the film all used up and then developed before I can post it. THAT REMINDS ME, I should have some developed photos at Sam's Club to pick up today. I'll go get them and then post another message on here with some MORE PICTURES!

But before I go, I wanted to let everyone here know that I called the Humane Society back after the Vet. appointment, and updated them on how she's doing. I told them that we are paying for her care and want to adopt her if she makes it through this, and they said that will be fine. They want us to wait a couple more weeks to make sure she's going to pull through, though, which is fine with us. She's still living with us and getting the medical care she needs, so we know she's as safe as she's going to be.

I also asked a little more about her history. She was brought in from an area about 30 miles north of the town I live in, and there was no mother and no litter mates when she was brought in. She was approximately 2 weeks old. She was sent to a foster home with a nursing mother, but the other kittens in that litter were sick so she was returned to the Humane Society to try to separate her from the sick ones. I'm not sure how long she was at that foster home, but it must have been only a day or two at the most.

The person I spoke with at the Humane Society didn't deny that they would have had her PTS if I had taken her back there. But since I didn't, and since I WON'T, we don't even have to worry about that any more......
