actually you said the dog is safe with a friend of yours, is that correct? if that's so, I am more than glad to drive down this weekend and pick her up and drop her off somewhere, I would need some help with gases, of course. -

I got off phone with your local police and said if you're willing to press the charge, they considered it as a theft enough for you to be to prosecute and gave me the district attorney number for you to call - do you want me to post number here or PM it to you?

let me know whether works for you, PM me if comfortabler -- very sorry about this! (I would give a dam* suing their ***es too!)

Cass, since you and your bf are already going down to LA in July, why don't you wait until then. At that time you can pick up Pooka yourself and drive her back home. Just a thought.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

I would contact all of the local humane societies and rescues between you and the dog and ask each if they can provide transport or a volunteer. I'm sure they will know at least a person a piece that is willing to help. It is a good idea to have the first person meet with this guy and pick up the dog in the parking lot of the local police station if they don't feel safe. Oh I hope you get her back soon and safe. If I lived near there I'd drive her the whole way myself (as long as you could wait for me to take her to the pet store for spoiling before you got her back). Probably be cheaper to fly the 2000 miles, do you think she could be shipped or maybe you don't want to risk it.

If someone can get her to the San Jose area, I can take her a few hours north, or if someone can get her as far as Bakersfield or farther north, I would be willing to pick her up and take her to the SJ area.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Whittier....about five hours south of me.

GRRR!! My boyfriend's parents are about 40mins from Whittier right now, but they don't take very good care of their animals and I wouldn't trust them with an elderly dog...

    Downey: (562) 940-6898, Los Angeles: (888) 452-7381, Burbank:818-972-9228, Bakersfield:661-323-8353 ext 100, Hanford:559-584-8766, Fresno: (559)498-8640, Madera: (559) 675 7891, Merced:209-385-7436, Modesto:209-524-7631, Sacramento:916-383-7387, Woodland:530-662-4989, Redding:530-238-8789, Yreka:530-465-2276, Medford:541 779-3215, Grants Pass:541 479-3691, Roseburg: (541)672-3907, Eugene:541/689-1503 or whichever others you know.

Just in case you decide to try any rescues along the way, here's a list from Whittier to Eugene in order. If you have unlimited long distance good luck with this, I'd try maybe every other one at first and see how far they can relay. Most of these also have e-mail adresses listed on petfinder.com, just look up shelters by state.
Tell them about your case and see if they know anybody who would be willing. You might just need somebody to connect between one or two places along the way.

Hi guys!!! I just need to figure out when he can get her for me and I will update as soon as I know. He is at work right now so I need to wait to talk to him, but a little good news is I have a job interview for another vet clinic!
